Privacy Policy

profy is a marketplace that connects K-12 students and their parents in Lebanon with hand-vetted private tutors, with payments protected by escrow. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and how we protect it.

• Account data — your name, email address, and a password (stored only in hashed form by our authentication provider).
• Learner profile— grade, curriculum track, and the subjects help is needed in. When a parent signs up for their child, we ask for the child's first name only.
• Tutor applications — subjects, rates, availability, credentials, and a government ID used solely for identity vetting. IDs are stored in a private bucket, are never public, and are viewed only by our vetting team.
• Waitlist— your email, whether you're looking for a tutor or want to tutor, and a subject of interest.
• Sessions & payments — booking details (subject, time, format, price) and escrow payment status.

We collect the minimum we need to run the service — nothing more.

Most of our learners are minors. Accounts for learners under 18 should be created or approved by a parent or guardian — our signup asks for explicit parental consent, and in-person sessions additionally require a parent/guardian safety acknowledgment. We never display a minor's full name publicly, and tutors only see what they need to run a booked session.

• To match learners with suitable tutors (subject, track, format, budget).
• To process bookings and hold/release escrow payments.
• To vet tutors' identities and credentials before they appear in search.
• To contact you about your sessions, account, or waitlist status.

We do not sell personal data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

Only the service providers that run the platform: our hosting provider (Vercel) and our database/authentication provider (Supabase). Tutors and learners see each other's names and session details for sessions they are both part of — never email addresses or IDs.

We keep your data while your account is active. You can ask us to access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time by emailing hello@profy.world. Government IDs submitted for vetting are not retained longer than vetting requires.
