What profy is
profy is a marketplace that connects K-12 students and parents in Lebanon with hand-vetted private tutors. Tutors on profy are independent professionals — not profy employees. profy provides the matching, booking, vetting, and payment-protection infrastructure around the tutoring relationship.
Accounts
- You must provide accurate information when creating an account.
- Learners under 18 need a parent or guardian to create or approve their account; the parent manages bookings and payments.
- You are responsible for keeping your login credentials private.
Tutor vetting
Every tutor's identity and credentials are reviewed by our team before they appear in search, and only approved tutors carry the “Hand-vetted” badge. Vetting is a serious screening step, but it is not a guarantee of teaching outcomes — ratings and the first-session guarantee exist for that.
Bookings, escrow, and refunds
- When you book a session, your payment is held in escrow — it is not handed to the tutor up front.
- The tutor is paid only after the session is confirmed complete. profy keeps a 15% platform commission.
- First-session guarantee: if your first session with a new tutor goes wrong, you can dispute it within 24 hours. Disputes are reviewed by our team, who decide between releasing the payment and refunding you. Refunds are adjudicated — never automatic.
- Paying tutors outside the platform to avoid escrow or the commission is not allowed and removes all protections.
In-person sessions
In-person sessions require an explicit safety acknowledgment at booking. You are responsible for choosing a safe, public meeting location; parents or guardians of minors must accompany or pre-approve all in-person arrangements.
Conduct
- Treat the other side of every session with respect.
- No harassment, discrimination, or inappropriate contact — especially toward minors.
- Ratings must reflect real sessions; attempting to game ratings is grounds for removal.
Liability
profy provides the platform “as is.” We work hard on vetting, escrow, and dispute handling, but we are not a party to the tutoring relationship itself and are not liable for outcomes of sessions beyond the payment protections described above.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms as the service evolves; significant changes will be announced on the site. Questions: hello@profy.world. These terms are governed by the laws of Lebanon.
